Finding the Perfect BB Cream: Best BB Cream

I have been looking for the best since BB Cream came to limelight although I know that it has been in Asia ever since. I just didn't know that what I was using was a BB cream. However, when there were reports about these certain Asian products that could do damage to our skin as one of my dermatologist told me, I stop using them and begun my journey finding the perfect one.

BB stands for Beauty Balm. And as we all know a balm is an oil based formulation. However, there are BB's that has none and since they are created to multi task, more important is its benefits. Most claims it will make your skin better, be it with sun protection or non, there must be some ingredients that will make our face better.

Depending on your reason why you are looking for BB Cream, there are really a lot of types. There are liquids, balm types and creams. If you prefer BB cream just because you are looking for light coverage, well a lot of BB creams are. Sun protection is one of most BB's promises. Hydration, lightening, whitening, anti spot, anti acne are most common task that they claim as well. So whatever your skin needs, just like any skincare products, look for what is suitable for you.

For me, it is important to find that BB Cream that will work with oily skin that will not slip through out the day. And for what I have found, there are those oil free formulation and works find to many skin types. And here are the products I tried and tested and available in Philippine market.

1. MAYBELLINE Super BB

This has a very opaque formulation. It is like a full foundation. For those who are into full coverage, this is for you. BUT, it has a very strong scent which I don't like. I prefer no scent products as I have a sensitive skin as well. Looking at the package, it is a perfect BB cream as it claims sun protection of SPF 50 PA +++. Wow that's a big plus, since most sunscreens are now very expensive. A BB cream with high SPF and very opaque coverage must be a dream. There are only 3 shades available though, light, medium and dark. I got the medium one and (I am shade NC 30 with Mac ) still very light for me. Also claim to be 7 in 1 product.

2. CLINIQUE Anti Blemish Solution BB Cream

This has a very thin consistency and yet powerful in a way that it has a whooping SPF 50 PA+++ and anti acne ingredient. The Salicylic Acid is what makes it more like a treatment foundation. I use this as concealer due to its heavy coverage. This is the most used BB Cream with Salicylic I have with its anti blemish properties. I love it that I bought 2 colors, Fair and Natural Beige. I mix the 2 together to color match my skin.

3. THE BODY SHOP Moisture White SHISO BB Serum Inside

While I was on my track finding the perfect BB Cream, I already categorised sun protection as my priority since Philippines has a very high temperature. This has SPF 25 PA+++and claims to whitens your dark spots with its Licorice Extract and Vitamin C ingredients . It has a very thick consistency which turned me off as it felt very tacky and shiny on the face. I believe this will suit better with dryer skin. With its low Spf, compared to the abovementioned BBs hmm, it is my least among the bunch.

4. BOBBI BROWN BB Cream SPF 35 PA+++

I bought this just because it has a very high rating in the beauty community. Yes it did not disappoint me but with the hefty price tag, I may not be repurchasing. And this photographs great, it looks so natural on camera.

5. L’OREAL Lucent Magique BB

This is a very uniqueBB Cream. It is a visually white cream and claims to magically transforms into color matched your own skin color after application. This is a one color suits all. And I did my own experiment, and it did not match with the white paper i dubbed it into. Therefore, it only matches just because the coverage is very light that it looks like you only patted translucent powder on your face. But the look is illuminating on the face and also wears quite long if you have a normal skin type. Oily skin will only take 3-4 hours before it slides.

6. BELO Intensive Whitening BB Cream (My Favorite)

I am very proud with this product as it is made in the Philippines and created by our own Filipio Dermatologists. It suits Filipino skin and meets the demand on whitening with its Kojic Acid and Tranexamic Acid ingredients. This BB has anti ageing properties with its very high SPF 50 PA +++ . And this may knock off high end products like Clinique with its quality standard. It erases dark spots and even out skin tone in a faster rate. It helps lighten my pimple marks and has become my day time protection and with its price of 350 PhP (6 USD) nothing can beat this. And it wears a bit longer than a regular SPFs.

7. BENEFIT Big Easy Bigger than BB

This has the most silkiest texture of them all. It glides on smoothly and has a decent sun protection, SPF 35 PA+++. This is a liquid to powder texture so it is oily skin friendly product. It is definitely lightweight and wears like normal foundation. But with the humidity, it does not last that long especially when you are a sweaty gal. The 4-hour mark is a decent wear though.
